Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all vehicle rentals provided by Nomad Car Rental Corfu IKE, trading as Nomad Car Rental Corfu (“Nomad”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By making a reservation and signing the rental agreement, the renter confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. Driver Requirements

The minimum driver age is 20 years and the maximum driver age is 75 years. Every driver must have held a valid driving licence for more than one year.

Drivers aged 20–23 must select the mandatory “Driver 20–23 years old” option during the booking process. A young-driver surcharge of €10 per rental day applies.

2. Driving Licence and Identification

Every driver must present:

• a valid driving licence;
• a valid passport or national identity card; and
• an International Driving Permit, where required.

Driving licences issued in the European Union or European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Australia are accepted without an International Driving Permit.

Drivers holding a licence issued in any other country must present a valid International Driving Permit together with their original domestic driving licence. Customers who are unsure whether their licence is accepted must contact Nomad before booking.

If the required valid documents are not presented at collection, Nomad may refuse to release the vehicle.

3. Vehicle Category

Reservations are made for a vehicle category and not for a specific make, model, colour or specification. The vehicle supplied may differ from the example shown on our website but will belong to the reserved category or, if necessary, a higher category at no additional charge.

Specific models can only be requested and are not guaranteed unless Nomad has expressly confirmed otherwise in writing.

4. Rental Period

One rental day is a period of 24 hours beginning at the agreed collection time. The vehicle must be returned on the date, at the time and to the location stated in the rental agreement.

A grace period of up to two hours may be allowed only when agreed with Nomad in advance. A delay of more than 120 minutes without prior agreement may be charged as an additional rental day at the applicable rate.

If the vehicle is returned before the agreed return date, no refund is provided for unused rental days or unused optional extras.

Any extension of the rental period must be requested and approved by Nomad before the original return time and is subject to vehicle availability and payment of the applicable rental charges.

5. Rental Price and Included Services

Unless otherwise stated in the booking confirmation, the confirmed rental price includes:

• all applicable taxes;
• unlimited mileage;
• standard Collision Damage Waiver with a €600 excess;
• 24/7 roadside assistance;
• one additional driver;
• requested child seats; and
• complimentary transfer between Corfu Airport and our nearby office.

Any charge not included in the confirmed price will be explained and agreed before the rental begins.

6. Collection, Return and Out-of-Hours Service

For Corfu Airport collections, a Nomad representative will meet the customer in the arrivals area holding a NOMAD sign and provide a short complimentary transfer to our nearby office.

Vehicle delivery or collection at a hotel or another location in Corfu may be arranged upon request. Any applicable delivery or collection charge depends on the location and will be confirmed in advance.

An out-of-hours charge of €20 applies to collections and returns between 22:00 and 08:00.

When the customer has supplied the correct flight number and the flight is delayed, Nomad will monitor the flight and adjust the collection time. The out-of-hours charge is normally not added solely because a confirmed incoming flight was delayed.

7. Additional Drivers and Child Seats

One additional driver is included in the rental price at no extra charge. A third driver may be added for €3 per rental day. A maximum of three drivers, including the main driver, may be registered on the rental agreement.

Every driver must meet the age, licence and identification requirements and must be named in the rental agreement. Insurance coverage does not apply while the vehicle is being driven by an unauthorised or unregistered driver.

Child seats are provided free of charge when requested. The renter is responsible for checking that each seat is suitable for the child and is correctly fitted before driving.

8. Permitted Use, Mileage and Ferrying

Unlimited mileage within Corfu is included in every rental.

The vehicle may be taken by ferry only with Nomad’s prior written approval. An additional one-time ferrying fee of €60 applies. The renter must follow any instructions provided by Nomad concerning the journey and insurance documentation.

Taking the vehicle outside Greece is strictly prohibited under all circumstances.

9. Insurance Coverage and Excess

Third-party liability insurance, as required by Greek law, is included with every rental.

Standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included in the rental price. For covered damage to the rental vehicle, the renter’s maximum financial responsibility is limited to an excess of €600 per incident, provided that these Terms & Conditions, the rental agreement and Greek traffic law have been followed.

Optional Full Insurance is available for €3 per rental day. This reduces the excess to:

• €100 for drivers aged 24–75; or
• €300 for drivers aged 20–23.

Full Insurance does not mean zero excess. The applicable excess remains payable in the circumstances described below.

Theft protection is included, subject to compliance with the required reporting procedure and the return of the vehicle keys and documents.

Nomad does not charge the renter for loss of use or for the days the vehicle remains unavailable while covered damage is being repaired.

10. Insurance Exclusions

The following are not covered by Standard CDW or Full Insurance:

• damage to the underside or undercarriage of the vehicle;
• damage to the vehicle interior;
• vandalism;
• damage caused intentionally or through misuse, gross negligence or failure to follow Nomad’s instructions;
• damage caused while the driver is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that impairs driving ability;
• damage caused by an unauthorised or unregistered driver;
• damage caused while using the vehicle off-road or in an area unsuitable for the vehicle;
• damage resulting from an unauthorised ferry journey or from taking the vehicle outside Greece; and
• damage resulting from a violation of the rental agreement or Greek traffic law.

For damage falling within an exclusion, the renter may be responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement.

11. When Is the Excess Payable?

The applicable excess is payable when:

• the renter or an authorised driver is responsible for covered damage to the rental vehicle; or
• the vehicle is damaged by an unknown third party and the responsible person cannot be identified.

This also applies to damage that occurs while the vehicle is parked. If an unknown third party damages the vehicle and leaves without being identified, the renter’s financial responsibility is limited to the applicable excess, provided that all reporting requirements have been followed.

If another identified driver is responsible and the incident is properly documented through the police, accident report or insurance process, the renter will not be charged the excess.

12. Accidents, Damage and Breakdown

In the event of an accident, damage, theft or attempted theft, the renter must:

1. stop safely and contact Nomad immediately;
2. remain at the scene unless remaining there would be unsafe;
3. contact the police or other competent authority when instructed or required;
4. not admit liability or make any private agreement with another party;
5. take photographs of the vehicles, damage, number plates and surrounding area whenever possible;
6. collect the contact, driving licence, vehicle and insurance details of all involved parties and any witnesses; and
7. complete and submit any required accident report within 24 hours.

Failure to report an incident or to follow the required procedure may invalidate the insurance coverage.

In the event of a breakdown, the renter must stop in a safe place and contact Nomad. Nomad provides 24/7 roadside assistance and will give the necessary instructions. Repairs, towing or replacement parts must not be arranged without Nomad’s prior approval, except where immediate action is required to protect life or prevent further damage.

13. Vehicle Condition, Return and Cleaning

The vehicle is supplied in a roadworthy condition and with its condition recorded at the start of the rental. The renter must inspect the vehicle and promptly report any unrecorded damage before leaving the collection location.

The vehicle must be returned in the same general condition in which it was supplied, allowing for normal wear and ordinary use.

Normal exterior and interior cleaning is included and does not incur a charge. If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty and requires specialised or deep interior cleaning beyond normal use, an interior cleaning fee of €40 plus VAT may apply.

14. Traffic Violations, Fines and Keys

The renter is responsible for all traffic violations, parking charges, tolls, fines and penalties incurred during the rental period. The renter must inform Nomad of any notice or fine received or left on the vehicle.

The renter is responsible for the actual cost of replacing lost or damaged keys and for any reasonable cost of retrieving keys locked inside the vehicle or delivering a spare key to the vehicle’s location.

15. Security Deposit and Payment

No security deposit is required and no amount is blocked on the customer’s card. A credit card is not required to rent a vehicle from Nomad.

The rental price and any agreed optional charges are payable when the vehicle is collected. Payment may be made in cash or by credit or debit card.

The absence of a security deposit does not remove the renter’s responsibility to pay the applicable excess, excluded damage, fines, missing fuel, lost keys or any other charge properly due under the rental agreement.

16. Cancellation, No-Show and Early Return

Nomad does not require an advance payment or booking deposit. Reservations may be cancelled free of charge at any time.

If travel plans change, customers are kindly asked to inform Nomad as early as possible so that the vehicle can be made available to another customer.

If the customer does not arrive at the agreed collection time and does not contact Nomad, the reservation may be treated as a no-show and the vehicle may be released. No cancellation charge applies where no payment has been made.

No refund is provided for unused rental days or unused extras when the vehicle is returned before the agreed return date.

17. Fuel Policy

The vehicle must be returned with approximately the same fuel level as recorded at collection.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the missing fuel may be charged to the renter. No refund or credit is provided when the vehicle is returned with more fuel than at collection.

18. Prohibited Use and Governing Law

The vehicle must not be used:

• by anyone not named in the rental agreement;
• for racing, speed testing, driving instruction or any competitive event;
• to tow or push another vehicle or object without Nomad’s written approval;
• off-road or on terrain unsuitable for the vehicle;
• for any illegal activity or for transporting prohibited goods;
• while overloaded beyond the vehicle’s legal passenger or luggage capacity;
• after consuming alcohol, drugs or any substance that impairs driving ability;
• on a ferry without Nomad’s prior written approval; or
• outside Greece.

These Terms & Conditions and the rental agreement are governed by Greek law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Corfu, Greece.
